Dartmoor National Park Authority Junior Rangers Program
The DNPA Junior rangers program is an opportunity to meet and help rangers from the national park, performing a large amount of tasks that the rangers also do to help conserve Dartmoor. Tasks like these include:
Repairing footpaths, styles, fences and public right of ways
Maintaining and surveying endangered biomes and moorland
Culling and clearing invasive or disruptive species
Communication and outreach with the general public
Repairing and preventing human-induced damage to natural places
Giving safety talks and project briefs
Mentoring junior members
These tasks not only help make Dartmoor a better place, but also help to develop skills, such as:
Coordination and cooperating as a team to complete tasks
Effective and clear communication
Leadership
Problem solving
Organisation
Planning
Teaching

Mount Edgecumbe Railway & Model Society
The Mount Edgecumbe Railway & Model Society (merms for short) is a group of hobbyist and enthusiasts that build, maintain and use both model and miniature railways at mount edgecombe. Rides are offered to the public and a wide variety of locomotives are used, the majority built by members. Tasks include:
Communicating with the general public
Offering good and quality service the the general public
Operation of electric locomotives
Maintenance of electric locomotives
Operation of steam locomotives
Maintenance of steam locomotives
Frequent safety checks to ensure trains and tracks are in serviceable condition
University of Exeter Speleological Society Treasurer and Kit Secretary
I am the current Treasurer and Kit Secretary of the University of Exeter Speleological Society. These roles mean I play an important role in the function of the club, with my responsibilities being:
Checking all kit is safe and within date
Ensuring we have enough kit of appropriate sizing to equip all our members
Ensuring all kit is returned and in good condition (cleaned and washed)
Purchase new kit if necessary
To reimburse any purchases the club's members make for club-related resources
To provide advice on how much the club can afford to spend
To keep in touch with the university to ensure an issues the club faces are resolved, or any additional funding is acquired
Filling out important paperwork on time and with good quality
To become proficient with technical knowledge in Speleology
